Race 1
#4 ST ARNAULT did what he could in his debut season. Back from a break, he represents an in-form yard and even from his wide draw, he can open his account on Mauritian turf here. #1 Anton Ruskin nearly ended last season on a winning note. He has continued to progress and can frighten the selection in this. #5 Social Network was set off as favourite in the opening contest of the season, but he failed to show up. He is worth another look and from his pole position draw, he should be right in the mix. #3 Roman Silvanus did not disgrace himself last season. In this low category, he makes plenty of appeal. For the lower placings, #8 Black Gambit and #2 Charles My Boy are good contenders.
Top Tip: #4 ST ARNAULT

Race 2
#3 FLOWER BLUE has eyes on completing his hat-trick here. In good shape and form, he can provide lift off for Marios Mina. #5 Phoenix Rising makes his debut for Rameshwar Gujadhur. He has shown a lot of potential in his exercises and is capable of starting his new career on a winning note. #2 Melson had to settle for 3rd in his seasonal debut. He has benefited from that run and can do even better, having landed the plum draw. #7 Raheeb scored an excellent win in his debut, but he did not come close to confirming in his following outing. This son of Bold Silvano is in good nick and merits respect in this. #2 Wanted Man should be competitive having dropped down a Benchmark and he can easily make the quartet.
Top Tip: #3 FLOWER BLUE
Dangers: #5 Phoenix Rising, #2 Melson, #7 Raheeb

Race 3
#1 CAPE HORN has fully recovered from the health issues that prematurely ended his debut season. He won three times and was on the podium in his other four attempts. He excelled in his barrier trial in midweek and will be hard to beat in this contest. #2 Wavebreaker was good enough for 4th in the Duchess Of York Cup meeting. Down a Benchmark, he should go close. #3 Captain My Captain is a promising newcomer at Gilbert Rousset’s yard. He is capable of striking at the first time of asking. #8 Brachetto has winning form in this class and having been drawn perfectly, he is not prevented from having a major say on proceedings. Similar comments apply to #4 Maestro’s Salute, who will relish running in this company.
Top Tip: #1 CAPE HORN
Dangers: #8 Brachetto, #3 Captain My Captain, #2 Wavebreaker

Race 4
#8 DECLARATOR is taken to complete his hat-trick in the first of three Draper’s Mile contests. In good nick, he will be very hard to run down. #7 Prince Lateral had a disappointing end to last season. He is usually a consistent sort and having benefited from the off-season, he can rattle the selection. #2 Castle was on the podium in all of his races in 2017. He runs well fresh and should be bang in the shake up. #4 Emaar always shows up well and he is capable of making it, while #1 Bono Vox and #6 Le Clos are two interesting outsiders.
Top Tip: #8 DECLARATOR
Dangers: #7 Prince Lateral, #2 Castle, #4 Emaar

Race 5
#2 NETFLIX looks the one to side with here. In what was a slightly disappointing debut season, he did end the year with three consecutive 3rd place finishes. He is down a Benchmark and with Darryl Holland on board; he can open his Mauritian account. #6 Avail will try his luck in a higher category. He is a very consistent performer and deserves to be considered. #5 Greys Inn Control and #1 Independence both cannot be dismissed in this small field.
Top Tip: #2 NETFLIX
Dangers: #6 Avail, #5 Greys Inn Control, #1 Independence

Race 6 – The Noble Salute – Evaco 17th Anniversary Cup (Group 3)
#2 TANDRAGEE is tipped to repeat his 2014 win here. Throughout his time in Mauritius, he has continuously delivered the goods in multiple Group races. Well-trained, he will be hard to beat. #1 Ernie has been in preparation mode since the start of the year. He is capable of opening his seasonal account at the first time of asking. #10 Nottinghamshire was exceptional in his debut season. He may have a tough task against quality opposition, but based on his excellent workouts and the fact he is shouldering just 52 kg, he is entitled to have a big say here. #4 Captain Swarovski has benefited from his debut outing, and over this short trip, he merits the greatest of respect. #5 Charles Lytton is in good shape and form, and is not prevented from showing up, while #6 Step To Fame and #9 Psycho Syd can both finish in the money.
Top Tip: #2 TANDRAGEE

In good order, he is tipped to double the score. #2 Zagazig ended his debut season in the good books, winning two of his last three races. Having benefited from a very long break, he can make it. #6 Blazing Heart makes his debut here. He was very consistent in the second half of his South African career. He must be watched closely. #4 My Boy Willie has shown progress and he can make the frame. Stable mate #3 Duke The Duke has got over his issues and is rated as a good place bet.
Top Tip: #5 NOORDHOEK ICE
Dangers: #2 Zagazig, #6 Blazing Heart, #4 My Boy Willie

Race 8
A finish of 8th, 5.7 lengths behind the winner sounds average for #9 RADLET, when he debuted in last season’s finale. However, it is worth remembering that he ran out of galloping room at a crucial moment. Having showed satisfaction at track work, he is tipped to run a cracker this time round. #5 Nadas failed to confirm in the International meeting. He can do better and is not without his chances. #1 Kapteinspandiseile is a promising newcomer. In preparation mode since the end of last season, he is in good condition and is capable of starting his new career on a winning note. #8 Gstaad was good enough for 3rd place in his last attempt. He has been drawn in the ace and if he is able to put his right foot forward, he can go in. #6 Halabaloo landed 3rd in his last run, despite being inconvenienced in the final few metres. It would be wrong to put a line through his chances here.
Top Tip: #9 RADLET
Dangers: #5 Nadas, #1 Kapteinspandiseile, #8 Gstaad
